With the New Year I have a new and exciting focus and mission statement for my life coaching business, and I’d like to share it with you.

I empower people to create a healthy relationship with money and overcome underearning.

To fulfill my mission, what you can expect from me in 2009 are lots of ideas and tools to help you to participate in prosperity this year; and what better time to start than January!

I’ve been personally trained by Barbara Stanny, author of the book Overcoming Underearning®, to offer seminars on her work. The amazing turnaround I’ve witnessed in my own life, and in the lives of my tele-seminar participants, has ignited a fire within me to dive even more deeply into this topic and empower more of you to do the same.

This may surprise you, but underearning has nothing to do with how much money you make. It has everything to do with your reaction to that amount. According to Barbara Stanny,

The definition of an underearner is one who earns less than their potential, despite the need or desire to do otherwise.

Do you think you might be an underearner? Do you sense that your relationship with money is less than healthy? Below are ten ways to turn that around.

To a prosperous New Year,

Letting Go of the Lesser

  1. Believe in possibility. Paint a positive picture of your financial future, and hold that in your mind as protection against gloomy predictions of economic ruin. It is the picture you hold in your mind that will be created in your life.
  2. Turn off the TV. It’s important to be informed, but not inundated with negativity. Understand the economic facts, and then create facts for yourself. Your reality does not have to mirror what the media reports.
  3. Set goals for “what’s next.” Goal-setting is a powerful piece of the prosperity puzzle. Take time to develop your goals for the coming year.
  4. Rewrite your financial beliefs. As a child, what were you taught about money? Were these empowering teachings? If not, what would you like to believe now?
  5. Surround yourself with prosperous people. Often we unconsciously mimic the behaviors of others. Choose to spend time with people you wish to emulate.
  6. Cultivate an attitude of gratitude. When you focus your attention on what you have to be thankful for, you will attract more good things into your life.
  7. Value yourself. Do you know the value of your time, knowledge, skills and experience? Are you being compensated adequately?
  8. Notice where you’re stuck. Take an honest look at what’s holding you back from earning more. Only then can you work to reverse the process.
  9. Affirm your positive outlook. Have affirmation statements ready to counteract the media and other doomsayers. For example, “I am very optimistic about my financial future, and the future of this country.”
  10. Develop your sense of trust. Can you believe before you see? Can you set goals for yourself and keep moving towards them, no matter what?

Start now with even one of these strategies, and notice how it impacts your relationship with money.

“Maripat’s Overcoming Underearning seminar was the most amazingly effective tele-seminar I have ever taken, and has impacted not only my coaching business, but all aspects of my life. Maripat effortlessly guided me in exploring my own beliefs and thoughts about money, which were not only shocking to me, but also opened the doorway to new beliefs and thoughts that have already served me much better. I not only have a better relationship with money, but I have a hugely improved relationship with my Self, and that allows me to live my life with great clarity and intention. If you’re looking to give 2009 a boost in the financial and your own personal well-being departments, I highly recommend taking this class, it’s also very affordable and convenient.”
